Centre Island

Last Saturday we headed over to Centre Island for some amusement park time. We ended up getting Seasons Passes so we will try to go once a month or more until the fall.
A silly girl in her brother's hat and glasses on the ferry trip over to the island.

Fire engine ride. Issues over the one bell.

Boat ride, more bell issues with tears.

Our ride operator took the whole family's picture. Stuntwoman is not so sure about this one. She also really did not like the ferris wheel. She was okay with the little roller coaster. So for now we'll avoid the rides we know she is skeptical of.

This ride is an all time popular one for the kiddos and some genius put two steering wheels so no sadness over who is driving!
We had a fun day and will be going back often as it is a family favorite. What a little treasure, we will miss this little amusement park when we move back to Texas.

Thrifty fun

Internet I have another new addiction besides bento, it's thrifting! For several weeks I've been looking at vintage stuff on other blogs and just had to go get me some crap to call my own. It's special cause it's from Canada! At least that is what I tell myself to permit my crazy thrifting habit.

I love the vintage charm of this plate and thought it was a neat reminder of our time living here. Dear Hubby noticed it in the kitchen where I had put it and commented right away. "I didn't know you were a flowery person". Well, not on a couch or wallpaper. Yuck!
I saw a blog about vintage pyrex and when I found this sweet number at the salvation army it jumped into my cart for 3.99. Bonus it says Pyrex England. How cool is that?

I adore this swiss dot fabric (1.99 one yard) and think it would be a great skirt I can wear while serving something fabulous in my new pyrex dish. I'll match so divinely... Betty Crocker eat your heart out!

How about this sweet toaster cover and .99 cents! It just screams Happy Homemaker to me. Maybe my children will want to eat breakfast if I make them toast every morning!

I thought the embroidery on this was cute and it will make a cute apron or just be something fun to have at Christmas cheering my spirits. Although you can't see the lighter thread is silvery. And below is another piece found with it at the same time....

Both pieces smelled of pine sol or lemon pledge. I imagine who had the patience to do this handiwork? This little basket design is on a pillow case. I can't decide if it would be a fun apron or framed for decoration at Easter?

I splurged on this last one. A christmas table cloth. I decided that I would regret not getting it. It has a vintage yet modern appeal. Hope you enjoyed my collection of junk.

Happy Monday

The other day in the car these guys were giggling and holding hands. We were waiting while Daddy ran into a store and I had music on, they were swinging their hands to the music. It was a cute moment.

I have a happy Monday report! Guess what internet??? I won the fabric from the Crafty Crow contest! Yaay, I never get that lucky. And the funny thing is I had a dream last night about winning something else and so it was kinda wild to wake up and check my e-mail and see I had won something. Hooray, Happy Monday!!!

Today at the park

We headed out before lunch to get some energy burned off! And when we got home I discovered this in the kids pockets.

In case you are wondering... it is sand and leaves!

And another pile was left right here!

We proceeded to have lunch and I realized that I had been bragging to the Grandma's about the consumption of broccoli and carrot by the oldest. This has been a long time coming... years.... since he was a baby. So I wanted to get a photo to preserve the momentous happening!

Stuntwoman will let broccoli cross her lips only as a mop, a means to get the dressing to her mouth. But hey, the food is coming in contact with her and maybe someday she will boldly follow in her brother's footsteps and actually consume some!

Long weekend

Last weekend was a long weekend with the Victoria day holiday so we took off for a long weekend to Niagara like we did last year.

The kids are burning off some energy at a quick stop to one of our favorite wineries on the way.

From our hotel room we had a fantastic view of both the American and Canadian Horseshoe Falls. Sunday night we had a great look at the fireworks display! The kids really liked that.

An ever popular highlight for Young Master is the skywheel known to us as "circle elevator"!

Young Master requested we take his picture at this fountain!

We took the kids to eat at the Rainforest Cafe and they really enjoyed that as well!

Another fun giveaway

So I have this thing for japanese fabric and to my surprise I log onto crafty crow and they are have a giveaway with This and That From Japan

This giveaway is available worldwide and will close at midnight P.S.T. on Saturday the 23rd. The winners will be announced there on Monday, the 25th.

So once again, I'll toss my name into the hat and see if I have random generator luck. Last time I was one post off and the person after me won all that bento loot! Ack!

Anyhoo, if I ever had a fabric source that had cute stuff like this near me I'd buy it all and then daydream about making stuff with it and probably never get around to making anything!

Project for Mother's Day

Sorry for the long hiatus in posts, seasonal allergies and small demanding people have been culprit. Here is a recent project.

Around a week ago I was in the kitchen putting dishes away and wishing Grandma's were able to have little hands helping them in their homes. So this was the inspiration for a Mother's Day Gift! I traced the kids hands on cardboard, then used that pattern to trace on a fusible paper which I fused to fabric. Then I cut each handprint out and fused to a tea towel. Sorry for the cruddy pics they were taken late one evening. I wish I had done step by step. Maybe next project! Anyhow the hearts I hand embroidered around and the hands I embroidered by machine.

I made homemade cards with a pattern seen on one pretty thing for the long thread, lovebirds. I didn't link since I'm not sure what is proper computer etiquette. But do want to credit the source. If you like and want to try the card just google it "the long thread lovebirds". I like that the card includes the kids art and looks nice.

Hope the Grandma's enjoy their "Helping Hands!"
