Earth Day - Recycle

Happy Earth Day!
Recently I mentioned my interest in repurposing clothing. Here is a thrift store find for $2.50. I liked the pattern and was thinking it would make cute patches for knees on pants. Upon bringing it home I realized I could try my hand at making a dress for Stuntwoman.

I cut the pants in half and at the inseam used it as the pattern for the arm holes. With a couple seams and some ribbon to tie at the shoulder a new dress for $1.25!

Here is the model with the finished project in action!

I may just turn it into a skirt, but overall am pleased with the ability to create something like this!

One of the things that gave me inspriration for the project was my Sister telling me a quote. "Fix it up, wear it out, make it work or do without"! I think in this economy it is good to have a mindset not to be wasteful and really think about "How can I use this?" or "Do I really need this?"

Happy Birthday 2 Me

Two years ago my belly looked like this!

Then this adorable creature showed up at 4:41 a.m. All 7 pounds and 20 inches of her. With 3 pushes in 6 minutes and the nurse yelling for the doctor to run to make it in time!

What a sweet and fun little girl you are! This is your first birthday picture.

Having some cake for your first birthday celebration. We were also celebrating your Great Grand-Dad's 96th Birthday. His Birthday is the day before yours.

I sure do wish I could take your picture this year in the bluebonnets....

My how much you have grown from one year to the next. You are full of energy and smiles and a great curiosity to discover all that you can.

Here you are today on your 2nd birthday! Happy Birthday you Darling Girl. We Love you so very much, Mommy, Daddy and Brother!

Busy bunny and Bento

Here is the Easter Bento I dreamed up for the Master for school today. A jello jiggler egg, egg bunny with carrots, ham and cheese and sunchips. I also sent some mandarin oranges... it completed the unintended orangeness of the lunch! Well he had a party and ate cake, cookies and from his lunch only the chips and oranges. Sigh!

Last night I finished assembling 20 of these bunny envelopes for his preschool party, they combined all the classes. I put jelly beans in the ziploc baggies. This was a craft idea from Martha Stewart but I saw it on another site, either crafty crow or one pretty thing.

On the bottom I wrote "Hoppy Easter, from "Master"

All Star - take two

Daddy managed to capture another All Star performance of Young Master in case the other one made you too dizzy!

By the way we had his 6 week follow up from his surgery yesterday and he is doing great no problems. It was super cute we had to wait in the office a little longer than normal as the doctor had to go do an emergency surgery. So we had one more person ahead of us and the patient who was just finishing his appointment was putting his coat on.

Young Master decided he needed to give this person some orders and he walked over to him and said "You go home now okay?" "You go on the elevator and push the down button!" The person humored him but also said "OK, do you want to come with me?" And he said, "No, I have to stay with my Mommy."

Whew, Sigh of relief from Mommy! Good answer kiddo, good answer! Anyhow after the doctor had examined him and we were leaving he also instucted the doctor. "You go check other people now!" Too funny!!!
