Fun with Bento

What do all these random assorted foods have in common. Well it's the funnest lunch around. Why it's your very own, Mr. Potato Head Bento!!!

You decide the face you want!

Or the nose he should have.

Or if he is silly!

This Mr. Potato Head has got it going on. He has his very own bento box. What a cool dude! Not a very healthy bento for Mr P. though. Which Mr. Potato Head is your favorite?

And yes Mom, I do like to play with my food!

More Perspectives

As I mentioned earlier Wednesday was not such a great potty training day. Sometimes it's just too much fun to take pictures of your own feet and of your baby sister's. Sometimes you forget that you need to go. And.... accidents happen.

But at the very least you can also take a picture of the mess
when Mom helps clean up after you have had an accident.

And in great photo journaling style finish the story by showing what happened next!

Perspectives

Mark January 15th 2009, on your calendars folks. It's the day Young Master stayed dry! Woo-hoo. This has been a long time coming. We have finally pulled the diapers after many discussions about how when your turn 4 you wear big boy pants. Wednesday was not so good so staying dry all Thursday was something noteworthy of reporting.

Here Young Master was exploring perspectives with his new camera before he had some work to do! I think it to be quite funny and thought it was a fitting photo to include on the topic.

Toddler Bento

I just adore these little clickety click lunch boxes. So fun for packing lunch for little people. This one is tiny. Size is : 4"x4"x2", 320ml (10.8 floz) but perfect for a little tummy cause that's about all a little one needs until the next meal.

For Stuntwoman's lunch she got the other half of brother's cheese stick and fruit leather from his bento. Ham and cheese on tortilla, pickles (her absolute favorite... I love this kid!) and grapes and pretzels.

Here she is modeling with her bento lunch. Verdict, she gobbled it up! And it was just the right amount of food.

Even though this picture is blurry, I thought it was too fun not to post. She really ate well this particular day!

Toddler Bento

Last week Young Master started preschool. He goes 2 days a week and I pack his lunch. So far the transition is going rather well.

For his first day I wanted lunch to be really special. I made ham and cheese on tortilla, just zap in microwave to melt cheese add your ham fold tortilla over and cut shapes after it cools down.

So since it is snowy and wintery, I thought a snowman was the perfect theme for lunch

Verdict, the cheese and fruit leather face and hat I made were gone and one nibble out of the ham and cheese. The rest of the box was untouched.

He ate both alien snowmen marshmellows and all the grapes and half of the dried apricots!

Bento egg molds

More fun with Bento!

I got some really fun egg molds. After you hard boil an egg, you peel it and put in the mold and a cold water bath. Leave 'em while you are doing other stuff and voila, they form to the mold and cute egg shapes that will make you squeal with delight upon opening. Too bad my kids don't like hard boiled eggs!

Here we have Dear Hubby's lunch. A nice ham sandwhich with veggies and an egg that he had for breakfast actually and 2 shortbread cookies!

Here was my lunch, trail mix, (except stuntwoman ate all the chocolate covered raisins for me) bunny egg and clementine and oriental coleslaw! Yummy!

Spitting image

No this is not my daughter dressed up in old timey clothes on the left. It is my Mom and her baby sister. Can you believe how much Stuntwoman looks like her Grandma???

Crafty

So I tried a craft project with the kids and ended up doing most of the work. Here is the end result. I was trying to make these look like snow people. We used left over applesauce cups and glued 2 together with a hot glue gun after we put cotton balls inside, they loved that part! Then we decorated them. As soon as they were assembled Stuntwoman was trying to tear them apart. Young Master insisted more hats go on top of the boy snowman. He also insisted his had to have a smile!

Too young for make-up!

Yesterday while I answered a phone call from a neighbor to arrange a play date, Stuntwoman slipped away to the bathroom. And sampled Mommy's make-up!

There was blush powder all over the floor. Which I cleaned up before I realized she had applied blush to the lower half of her face and lips. So I grabbed the camera to get a picture to at least remember this moment, as unhappy as I was.

As I shared the story to her Father later after we had retired to bed his only comment was she was too young for make-up. No concerns for the destruction of the make-up mind you Sigh!

p.s. if you are wondering about the glazed look on her face it is because I turned the t.v. on so I could clean up the mess and keep tabs on the kids at the same time, lest I found some other path of destruction whilst my back was turned.

Shutterbug

For Young Master's 4th Birthday we got him a kidizoom digital camera. He has been taking pretend pictures of us for months with a large cardboard tube as his makeshift camera. "Say cheese, click, here's your picture!" So we figured he would really like an actual camera.

He started clicking away and we have lots of pictures of us with our heads cut off.

And various other interesting things!

Here is little sister enjoying Birthday cake!

In about 2 hours he had taken about 250 pictures.
Not much later we learned it holds 450 pictures total.
His favorite thing is to get us to make a silly face and photograph that! Lovely isn't it?
Worse yet having the paparazzi in your house means they capture your every move. And if they are only a few feet tall and this is their perspective, well you catch my drift! It is fun to see what he finds interesting and photographs, even if it is 50 pitcures of his train table! I'm sure there will be more paparazzi posts in the future.

4 years old

So on the 2nd of January Young Master turned 4 and I turned 37. It would be super if I could subtract his age from mine, oh well! Anyhow we went to Chuck E Cheese a personal favorite of his and played and had pizza. We were trying to get the four of us in the picture but Stuntwoman would not cooperate....she is on my lap but did not sit still for the photo!

What's up Canuck?

Don't you just love this Elmer Fudd,
fur lined, ear flap hat? What a hoser!
On Christmas Evening we went outside
to play in the snow and make a snowman.

Poor babies, the snow was up to their knees!

Young Master named the snowman "Jasper"!

Canada New Year

You know you are in Canada when......

you notice that your neighbor has
made an ice rink in their back yard!

Happy New Years!
